Filler

Hyaluronic acid, which is used as a filling material, is a natural substance in our body. It has anti-oxidant properties and protects the skin from free radical damage and provides the elasticity of the skin. With increasing age, subcutaneous structural elements (layer of fat, hyaluronic acid, collagen fibers, and structures providing elasticity) reduce in time. As a result, wrinkles and sagging occur in the skin.

At this point, fillers are used to give a shape and volume to the wrinkles and to the collapsed areas having tissue loss.

It is applied with subcutaneous injection. It reduces wrinkles and provides volume and fullness. They stimulate collagen production in the skin.

The filler materials have various types according to the usage areas:

  • Absorbed by the body in time (temporary fillers)

  • Partially permanent fillers. (Longer permanence)

  • Permanent fillers (not absorbed by the skin, they are permanent.)

Types Of Fillers

They can be classified as temporary, semi-permanent, and permanent.

Hyaluronic acid is the most commonly used type of temporary fillers. Temporary fillers are permanent for 9-12 months as they are absorbed by the body. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our body; therefore, its absorption is safe.

Among the semi-permanent fillers, the most commonly used fillers are the ones containing calcium hydroxyapatite, polycaprolactone, and polylactic acid. Their permanence is about 1-3 years.

Today, permanent fillers are not preferred due to their side effects.

Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is an FDA approved and safe material. It is not a substance that is foreign to your body. Rather your body already naturally produces it. It provides volume, moisturizes, revitalizes, and enhances the skin quality. It supports collagen production. It can be applied to the face, hands, neck, decollete area, female and male genital areas, and almost all parts of the body as needed. Its effect is observed immediately. Its permanence lasts for 9-12 months.

Calcium Hydroxyapatite Fillers

Calcium hydroxyapatite fillers are water-based materials and contain calcium and phosphorus ions. It is safe and compatible with the body as it is a natural substance found in the human body. No allergy test is required beforehand. They are semi-permanent fillers. It gives volume and fullness to the applied area. As they decompose over time, they are safe because they are ions that naturally occur in your body. It is possible to conduct sessions for smoothing out. Its permanence is between 1 and 3 years.

Polycaprolactone-Based Fillers

They are used for more minimal applications. They are used to smooth out fine wrinkles and mimic lines. They help the skin at that area to preserve its collagen and elasticity. They are materials naturally found in our skin. They are semi-permanent. Its permanence lasts for 1 and 3 years.

Polylactic Acid-Based Fillers

They are not used for giving volume and fullness. They enhance the quality of the skin thickness and the appearance of the skin. They smooth out fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. They contain microparticles that support collagen production (poly-L-Lactic acid). The anti-wrinkle results of the application can be seen immediately. When applied gradually, the results are more efficient. Its permanence is between 1 and 3 years.

Natural fillers are fed into the part of your body that you want to re-shape in tiny quantities (as needed) via a blunt-tipped injector. The procedure lasts for approximately 15-30 minutes. The results can be seen immediately.

It is conducted by using an injector and cannulas. In the procedures performed without local anesthesia, you may feel little instant pain and ache depending on your pain threshold. The filler area is anesthetized beforehand in the patients who have a low pain threshold, abstain from the injector and cannula, and do not want to feel pain. Thus, the patient can have the filling procedure done comfortably.

Yes, you can continue your social and business life after the procedure.

It can be applied together with cosmetic surgical operations. If you get general anesthesia, you will wake up with all your procedures completed.

Filling procedures can also be done together with your nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. In addition, when correct procedures are combined, the effect of these procedures increases, and also, this combination provides a faster and more effective enhancement for sags, wrinkles, and spots.

It can also be applied after the procedures such as laser and radiofrequency.

Hyaluronic acid fillers should not be conducted together with exothermic procedures. Such procedures should be conducted later. This is because short-term warming of the skin reduces the permanence of hyaluronic acid.

Mesotherapy, prp, and botox can be applied together with the filling procedure.

After the procedure, the effect of the filler is seen immediately. A slight edema and redness in the injection site may be seen half an hour after the procedure and this is normal. Next, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the results of the procedure.

Rarely, bleeding may occur in the capillary vessels under the skin. They disappear within 3-4 days.

This period varies according to the permanence of the filler, filler type, injection amount, and the filler degradation rate of your body.

The permanence of temporary fillers is between 9 and 12 months.

The permanence of semi-permanent fillers is between 1 and 3 years.

We use the fillers containing microparticles that are compatible with the body and include the ions already present in the body. Thus, they are reliable. Allergy risk is minimum. Slight redness, ecchymosis, and edema may occur. They are temporary and short-termed effects. Redness can be covered for a few days by applying a concealer.

If you do not want to have ecchymosis, you should stop taking drugs such as aspirin and anticoagulants 1 week before the procedure after consulting your doctor. Heavy sports, blows to the face, motions forcing the mimics, and motions requiring hard chewing and strength are not recommended for 3-5 hours after the procedure. If swelling and redness occur, extreme heat, sauna, extreme cold, and sunbathing are not recommended until they disappear.
